Stock Up on Produce and More at the City of Falls Church Farmers Market
May 1, 2019The weather is warming up, and the City of Falls Church Farmers Market is already going strong for its spring and summer seasons. Every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, farmers, bakers, cheese-mongers, and other vendors set up tents in on the grounds of City Hall to offer their wares to hungry locals.
You’ll find plenty of freshly picked produce, inclduing lots of salad greens in spring, with tomatoes and corn coming later in the summer. There are also baked goods still warm from the oven and local dairy products, including cheese, yogurt, milk, and ice cream. For the health-conscious, there’s even a stand selling “kalechups” (ketchup alternatives with spicy, sour, tart, and other flavors). Feeling hungry after all your shopping? No problem — treat yourself to lunch from one of the market’s prepared foods vendors. You’ll can choose spicy tacos, sweet crepes, Turkish flatbreads, hand-made pasta, and more. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to catch a bit of live music while you eat!
