Second Thursdays at the Torpedo Art Factory
Located along the banks of the Potomac River in Old Town Alexandria, the Torpedo Art Factory is home to the nation’s largest collection of working-artists’ open studios under one roof. Stop by for Second Thursdays and browse studios and galleries, get to know the artists, and enjoy special programming throughout the building from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Don’t miss the lecture series at 8 p.m. in the Main Hall, which features some of the contemporary art world’s best-known artists, art curators, and art professionals. Second Thursdays at Torpedo Art Factory is free and open to the public.
Founded in 1974 in an old munitions plant, the Torpedo Art Factory now houses 82 working artists’ studios in a wide variety of media, including painting, ceramics, photography, jewelry, stained glass, fiber, printmaking, and sculpture. The art center gives you the opportunity to observe the creative process and purchase original artwork for your own collection.
